Katalin Piniel
I’m an applied linguist striving to understand how people learn foreign languages. I’m also a language teacher trying to assist people in this journey.
My research encompasses investigating the dynamic interrelationship of individual differences in foreign language learning, with a special focus on emotions, including language anxiety. I’m also interested in language testing and assessment, especially in the Hungarian high school context, with a focus on both summative and formative assessment practices. I’m also constantly exploring ways to broaden my research methodology repertoire, which I find important as a researcher. I have some experience in conducting meta-analyses and longitudinal data analyses.
I work as an assistant professor at the Department of English Applied Linguistics at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, where I obtained my PhD in Language Pedagogy. Currently, I serve as an associate editor of Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching, and I'm a reviewer for various applied linguistics journals.
